argumate:

now, time to get one side of Tumblr enraged about bank forms which ask for your mother’s maiden name

and the other side of Tumblr enraged about modernity threatening traditional marriage mores

then stand back and reconsider my life choices

Mother’s maiden name should be retired from those forms not because of any sort of modern marriage issues, but because they are using public information as proof of identity.

Only if you were silly enough to use your actual mothers actual maiden name when filling out the form originally. For one form (long ago and no-longer-used so I can break opsec), my “Mothers Maiden Name” was “Grytenfjullisdottir,” which I don’t believe is a name even in the Iceland it sort-of looks like it is from.
