The US Air Force is aimed at Russia and China, but used in Afghanistan and Iraq, leading to a certain incoherence in its equipment and objectives.
understatement of the year that.
At least the US Air Force is big enough to have multiple planes – bombers and strike fighters for Afghanistan, Air Superiority for Russia. The Danish Air Force is buying new planes at this time (This has so far taken ~8 years IIRC) and we need like, twenty, which means we’re either going to keep the Russians away with a plane optimized for cheaply helping Americans in the mid-east, or bomb the mid-east for America with a plane optimized for keeping Russia out. The latter is going to be catastrophically expensive, the former less expensive but wildly ineffective.
