The numbers in America for comparison. Muslims are at the low end of acceptance, but rank above Evangelicals, Mormons, and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Muslims are comparable to Protestants overall.
Muslims are a very diverse group: “By race, in 2014, 38% were non-Hispanic white (including Arabs and
Iranians, up from 32% in 2007), 28% were Asian (mostly Indians,
Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis, up from 20% in 2007), 28% were black (down
from 32%), 4% Hispanic (down from 7%), and 3% of mixed or other race
(down from 7%)” and I’d guess that there’s a lot of variation in acceptance across those groups, but IDK if there’s polling on that.
wow, what’s causing the huge shift for hindus?
Dunno, but I’d pay attention to the difference between “Know someone who is gay” vs “Do not know etc.” – possibly they reached a critical mass of open homosexuals who caused acceptance which caused more people to come out in a self-reinforcing loop.
